under siege.

I don't know many who would deny that we are a sinful people. Most, even those who aren't Christians, would agree that we all fall short as compared to some moral standard we intrinsically formulate. All Christians know and ought to be able to testify to their own depravity and the miracle of grace as evidenced by the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ. Thus we can also tell of sanctification and the promise of one day being the likeness of Christ. That "one day" is a long way off, potentially, and won't entirely take place this side of Heaven. We see the hints of our former self at every corner, the reminder of the pagan ethos in which we live, especially in our interpersonal interactions. The two most likely places to see this manifest? The family and the Church. It is no coincidence that the two institutions designed by God for greatest blessing and influence in reaching the world with His hope are the very places satan most successfully sticks his nose.

What are we gonna do about it? Rise up, Church! Each person, each decision, each day for His glory and renown. Let us be like our humble Saviour whose life was poured out for you and for me. Go home and die some more.
